print

Location: Bevkov Square / Bevkov trg (in front of the Nova Gorica Centre of Culture), Nova Gorica.

Time: 20:30 - 23:00

The researchers of the Center for Astrophysics and Cosmology of the University of Nova Gorica will perform a guided tour of the night sky using the Meade LX200 12-inch telescope.

During the Researchers' Night in 2017, the Moon is near to its First Quarter, and sets around 22:00. Our satellite will therefore be in the observation program in the first part of the night (20:30-21:30). The guided tour of the lunar craters and »seas« will be accompanied by the presentation of the history of our Solar system.

After the moonset, the tour on the galaxies, nebulas, clusters of stars, such as the famous double open cluster in Perseus and the Great Globular Cluster in Hercules, will be performed. The time for observation of the majestic night sky spectacle will fly away rapidly, however it will remain an unforgettable experience for all attendees of this Researcher's night activity.
